What to Expect at Our Portsmouth Clinic

Do I need a GP referral?
You can book most scans directly. Contact our team before booking if you are unsure which examination is appropriate.
How do I prepare?
Preparation depends on your scan. You may need to fast or attend with a full bladder. Follow the instructions in your appointment confirmation.
Is a transvaginal scan compulsory?
No. It may be offered for a pelvic examination where appropriate, with your consent. Your sonographer will explain the options and any limitations of an abdominal-only scan.
When will I receive my results?
Findings are usually explained during or after your appointment, with a detailed digital report usually provided the same day.
What if I need further care or a rescan?
Your sonographer will explain recommended next steps. With your consent, we can share your report with your GP. MedHealth funds the partner GP consultation where our qualifying urgent suspected-cancer referral pathway applies. Routine GP appointments and further care are charged separately. Clinically indicated rescans are free within 12 months, subject to our Care Promise terms.

Our diagnostic ultrasound service is for adults aged 18 and over. Scan duration, price and available appointments are shown when booking.

Free parking is available within the Lakeside North Harbour business park.
Please allow enough time to find a parking space and walk to Building 1000. No parking receipt or reimbursement is required at the Portsmouth clinic.
