Every package starts with abdominal and pelvic assessment, tailored to the anatomy being examined. Enhanced adds thyroid ultrasound; Signature also includes an echocardiogram.
Women’s health check
The abdominal scan assesses the visible liver, gallbladder, biliary system, pancreas, spleen and kidneys. The pelvic scan assesses the bladder, uterus, endometrium and ovaries.
Transvaginal ultrasound is included where clinically appropriate and with your informed consent. It can provide a more detailed view of the pelvic organs. You may decline it.
Men’s health check
The abdominal scan assesses the same abdominal organs. Bladder and prostate assessment is performed through the lower abdomen. The testes and surrounding scrotal structures are assessed with a separate external scan.
Prostate ultrasound assesses visible size and structure. It cannot diagnose or exclude prostate cancer.
Thyroid ultrasound
Included with Enhanced and Signature. Ultrasound assesses the thyroid gland’s size and structure, including visible nodules or other structural changes.
It does not measure thyroid function. Thyroid blood tests are not included.
Echocardiogram
Included with Signature. Our specialist echocardiographer assesses heart structure, valves and pumping function and provides a written echocardiogram report.
Your echocardiogram results must be discussed with your GP. A routine GP consultation is not included in the package.
Know what to expect
Before your scans
Our team will provide preparation instructions when arranging your appointments. For abdominal and pelvic ultrasound, you will usually be asked to fast for six hours and attend with a comfortably full bladder. Contact us before fasting if you have diabetes or a condition that makes fasting difficult.
During your visit
Your clinician will discuss your concerns, explain the examination and obtain your consent. There is time to ask questions about the scans being performed. Transvaginal ultrasound is optional and requires your informed consent.
Your written reports
Your findings are documented in a professional written report, with recommendations where appropriate. Signature includes a separate echocardiogram report. Our team will advise you about report availability.
Your next steps
Where a finding needs further assessment, we will explain the recommended next steps. Echocardiogram results must be discussed with your GP. A routine consultation with a private GP partner can be arranged separately for an additional fee.

Where are these health checks available?
Essential and Enhanced are available at our Portsmouth, Southampton, Fareham and Chichester clinics. Signature is available exclusively at our Portsmouth clinic, 1000 Lakeside, North Harbour. Signature scans may take place over two separate appointments, both at Portsmouth.
Will everything happen at one appointment?
Your scans may take place over two separate appointments, depending on your chosen package and clinician availability. Our team will coordinate the appointments with you after payment.
Do I choose a time when I pay?
No. Select your package and pay securely online. Our team will then contact you to arrange your scan appointments and provide preparation instructions. Payment does not reserve a particular appointment time.
Which package should I choose?
Essential covers abdominal and pelvic assessment. Enhanced includes everything in Essential plus thyroid ultrasound. Signature also includes an echocardiogram. The appropriate choice depends on your concerns and the areas you want assessed. If you have symptoms or are unsure, contact us before purchasing.
Is transvaginal ultrasound included?
Yes, within the women’s pelvic assessment where clinically appropriate and with your informed consent. You can decline a transvaginal examination. Your clinician will explain the examination and any limitations of an alternative approach.
Does thyroid ultrasound test thyroid function?
No. Ultrasound assesses the thyroid gland’s structure. Thyroid function is assessed with appropriate blood tests, which are not included in these packages.
Do I need to discuss my echocardiogram with my GP?
Yes. Signature includes a written echocardiogram report, and the results must be discussed with your GP. A routine GP consultation is not included. A routine private GP partner consultation can be arranged separately for an additional fee.
Do I need a GP referral?
You can purchase a package directly, subject to clinical suitability. Please tell our team about any symptoms or concerns so we can advise on the appropriate service. These packages do not replace medical assessment of symptoms.
A clear understanding of what ultrasound can tell you.
These packages assess the listed areas rather than the whole body. Ultrasound cannot detect every condition or exclude every cancer, and a normal scan does not guarantee good health. The checks do not replace NHS screening programmes or medical assessment of persistent, new or concerning symptoms.
Blood tests, routine GP consultations and cardiologist consultations are not included.
Men’s Ultrasound Health Check
A comprehensive ultrasound assessment of the abdominal, urinary and male reproductive organs.
Your health check includes:

The abdominal ultrasound assesses the visible liver, gallbladder, biliary system, pancreas, spleen and kidneys.
The prostate is assessed through the lower abdomen with a full bladder. The testes and surrounding scrotal structures are assessed using a separate external ultrasound examination.
